There was a time when the white rings denoted the number of enemy tanks you had destroyed......a guy called Michael Wittman probably holds the record for 138 plus many other targets.

Just some info to show how many of us were part of the RAC.
The wearing of shoulder flashes on Service Dress was discontinued and lanyards are now worn. Shoulder flashes are worn by all ranks on black denims.

Identical shoulder flashes are worn by 1 RTR and 2 RTR. Made of black cotton they depict the rank and, at the base, the Regimental Colours.
A single rank flash black with Regimental Colours is worn in the centre of the chest when wearing Combat Kit.
1 RTR - Red
2 RTR - Yellow (Saffron)
3 RTR - Green
4 RTR - Dark Blue
5 RTR - Red/Cambridge Blue
6 RTR - Red/Yellow
7 RTR - Red/Green
8 RTR - Red/Dark Blue
9 RTR - Red/Brown
10 RTR - Red/White
11 RTR - White/Black (Red/Black in WW1)
12 RTR - Red/Purple
13 RTR - Green/Blue
